Terms & Conditions

To make a booking we require full payment made payable by cheque or direct bank transfer. Payment details will be sent out in an email confirming your booking. By booking your holiday with 'Herdwick Huts' you agree to the following terms and conditions


ARRIVAL
All Shepherd Huts are available from 3pm on day of arrival and must be left in a clean condition not later than 10am on departure day.


DEPARTURE
On departure all Huts are to be left clean and tidy with the keys. All rubbish is to be disposed of responsibly in the bins on site. Please strip your beds of linen and leave in a pillow case on the bed.


BOOKING
When you make a booking and payment a letter confirming the dates and times of your holiday is sent to you. Booking and payment is considered the establishment of a legal contract.

If cancellation is needed due to a change in COVID19 from Government guidlines from December 4th 2020 onwards:

Your booking will be rescheduled or refunded minus 10% admin fee.

If you have to cancel your holiday due to a COVID related illness, please be aware that it would be your responsibility to either give your holiday dates to a friend/family member(s) who do not have COVID symptoms or claim the cost back on your insurance policy.

CANCELLATION BY US
Extreme Conditions: The Herdwick Huts reserve the right to cancel a holiday or tranfer you to alternative accomodation on site or nearby at short notice if for unforeseeable circumstances we are unable to provide safe accommodation in a Shepherds Hut due to extreme conditions, ill health, fire or administration or any other extenuating circumstance. Under such unlikely circumstances your holiday will be rescheduled. 

Force majeure clause:

The Herdwick Huts are not liable for refunds or expenses you incur in the event they are prevented from fulfilling your booking as a result of circumstances beyond their control. Such circumstances shall include (but not be limited to) war, terrorism, riots, or civil unrest, industrial action, flooding, natural disaster, epidemics, health risks or such similar events ("Force Majeure"). We recommend that you have adequate holiday insurance in place to cover this.


CANCELLATION BY YOU
We understand that circumstances change and emergencies occur. If a booking is cancelled before the 6 weeks prior to arrival the deposit will be refunded minus a 25% admin fee. Deposits will not be returned for cancellations within the 6 weeks prior to arrival.


BREAKAGES AND DAMAGE
If on your arrival you find any items or fittings, utensils, crockery or cutlery is broken, damaged or missing, please report it on the phone numbers given and it will be replaced. We do accept a degree of wear and tear but should any significant damage or breakage occur during the period of your stay you will be held responsible for and must make good to the lowest market value. We reserve the right to charge for excessive cleaning where a Shepherd's hut has been left in an unacceptable condition, through waste, litter, interference in the structure, movement of furniture and contents etc.

CHILDREN
You are responsible for children at all times. The Herdwick Huts accept no responsibility for injury incurred on sites.

DOGS

If you have paid for a pet friendly shepherd's hut, please be aware that No dogs are allowed on the bedding under any circumstances. Failure to comply with this will result in additional linen costs of £25.00.

NEGLIGENCE
Guests will be held responsible for any fire, damage or alteration to the structure caused by negligence.

STOLEN PROPERTY
The Herdwick Huts cannot be held responsible for any lost or stolen property. There are locks on the Shepherd Hut doors.

NO SMOKING POLICY
All our Shepherd Huts hold a strict NO SMOKING POLICY and smoking in any of our Shepherd Huts will result in a fine of up to £100 in order to clean to a satisfactory standard. Anyone who smokes outside of the Huts is responsible for disposing of their cigarette butts in a bin and NOT littering the surrounding area.

MAXIMUM OCCUPANTS
Under no circumstances may the maximum number of 3 people sleeping in each Shepherd hut be exceeded.

RESPECT FOR OTHERS AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Please be aware that the site has residential neighbours close by and for this reason, no drones are to be used on the site by the huts. We also ask you to respect the environment by restraining from letting off lanterns or helium balloons.

AGE POLICY
We do not accept bookings from anyone under the age of 18.

KEYS
Your keys will be in the hut door on arrival with your name on. Please leave the keys in the outside of the hut door on departure.
